Hardened and tempered steel strip

Hardened and tempered steel strip is one of the most important segments at C.D. Wälzholz. We are an international market leader in this field. Not only do we produce hardened and tempered steel in a variety of different microstructures, but we have also developed a number of special materials.

 
     
     
 

One of these special materials is PT band. It is particularly suitable for springs and flat springs, guarantees closest tolerances and is highly efficient. With PT band systematic working is possible despite high strength properties. Thus intricate piece tempering is not necessary.

As martensitic hardened and tempered steel strip this material is used for the production of saws and circular saw blades. Its special properties - homogeneous and extremely flat - ensure optimal break resistance and long lasting sharpness of every saw blade.

Our SORBITEX® steel strips can be found in all products, which have to withstand high and repeated tensile loads, e.g. in the retraction device of dog leashes, in vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers and, above all, as springs in safety belts.

Just as successful and a prime example for our application-oriented approach is the "Aerotwin" windshield wiper. The construction of this wiper, which was designed conjointly with Bosch, is based on a specially developed cold rolled hardened and tempered steel strip, which considerably improves characteristics like force distribution, winter performance and longevity of the product. Certainly an innovation - and therefore it was awarded the steel innovation prize.
