Hagen

Hagen-Hohenlimburg: The original main facility and birthplace of CDW. Situated close to the Nahmerbach stream, this plant clearly symbolizes the company's history. Even the names "Paragon Hall", "Ludwig Hall" and "Wulfeld Hall" refer to CDW's history at this location.

In Hagen-Hohenlimburg CDW concentrates its martensitic hardening and tempering facility. Behind old walls hides most modern technology. Besides the hardening and tempering facilities the produktion halls are used for basic testing for material and process development. Additionally significant production steps for the manufacturing of ski edges are performed on highly precise machinery. The customized fabrication of the ski edges follows thereafter in our plant in Götzis, Austria.

The location in Hagen-Fley comprises the plants Fley Nord (north) and Fley Süd (south) [see picture above]. Both production plants were established in the 1960s.

The Fley Nord plant houses the first production steps for the production of cold rolled carbon steel strip as well as the large warehouse for the storage of hot rolled wide strip and medium-width strip. Steel processing begins with the push-pull pickling line for the wide and medium-width hot rolled strip; subsequently, the steel strip is cut at the slitting line for hot rolled steel and rolled by means of our large 4-high tandem rolling mill. This is followed by the heat treatment process in HICON batch-type annealing furnaces.

The further steps for the production of cold rolled low carbon steel strip are carried out in the Fley Süd plant. Here you will find two 4-high skin pass mills for the final rolling steps of the cold rolled low carbon steel strip as well as slitting and packaging lines. The finished goods warehouse is also situated in this plant with its fully automatic high shelf system as the distinctive eye-catcher.

Part of the electrical steel strip manufacturing process is the continuous annealing line, which is 180 meters long and multi-storied. Here electrical steel strip is annealed with individually adjusted speeds and subsequently coated on one or two sides in order to avoid eddy current or core losses.

The buildings in Hagen-Fley Süd also house the entire administration of the CDW group of companies.

The former Hoesch plant in Hagen-Kabel is the most recent acquisition at the Hagen location. CDW bought the buildings in 2000, and today they house the center for the production of oscillated wound coils as well as the equipment and machines for edge machining. Moreover, the production of profiles and narrow steel strip was gradually moved from the parent plant in Hohenlimburg to Hagen-Kabel whilst production processes were modernized and restructured; this has contributed considerably to the further development of our narrow steel strip and profile production.
