CDW at the Euroblech 2008 – Visions Meet Steel
C.D. Wälzholz presented its extensive range of steel strip at the Euroblech 2008 in Hanover from 21 to 25 October. Numerous visitors to our stand used the unique opportunity to explore our world of materials using a specially developed interactive multimedia installation to find the ideal steel strip solution for their application.
Interactive discovery of materials
The two-storey fair stand offered a first-class setting to discuss the possibilities of the CDW world of materials in a relaxed atmosphere. The stand highlight in the centre attracted everyone's attention: the interactive application, with an elegant white outside wall and black, glass surface. Through four interactive interfaces visitors were able to immerse themselves into the world of materials using their personalised token.
The software provided a detailed overview of the technical data such as material characteristics, microstructure images and video sequences. Animations on the dark glass surface and ethereal sounds accompanied the actions of the users. In most cases the interaction led to a profound technical discussions about future applicatons with our technical experts "Visions Meet Steel" - our fair slogan - and in numerous talks new visions for the steel processing industry were discussed.
Time for productive discussions
Customer specific technical developments and new innovative materials, for example for the automotive industry, to achieve reductions in weight, costs and CO2 were just some of the issues which were important to our customers this year.
Our managing director, Dirk Barschkett, stressed that CDW will bring in its technology and innovation resources to support customers to counter the current challenging market situation CDW offers – for example as a development partner - services which extend far beyond standard materials and will help to introduce innovations to achieve sustainable cost advantages.
Steel strip sounds captivated the audience
The Berlin electronics artist and steel cellist, Wolfram Spyra, inspired by the interaction between the ideas of our customers and their implementation by CDW crerated a new sound. He composed the CDW fair song "Visions Meet Steel" . He expanded to the slogan by the addition – and logical conclusion – "Steel Needs Visions". As a musical highlight of our VIP event, he performed the song live on synthesisers and a specially designed cello of CDW steel strip. The enthusiastic audience concluded that CDW products have surprising acoustic properties – certainly a symbol that CDW knows no limits when it comes to customer specific material development.
